Anyone who throws me a 'coffee' before the next W.A.T.S.O.N Your Mind? short is released (write in the comment that it is for WYM) on Wednesday 9th November, will have their name put on the credits of that short.

Uh...Surprise?

2 min read

Looks like I'm back. ¦D

It's as much of a surprise to me as any of you still using DA, but this week I felt an urge to do a massive overhaul of my gallery, and actually make more of a concerted effort to post new content here.

"But why?" you might be asking? Well...the reason I migrated when everyone else did was to keep connected with art friends. But as the years have passed, and the disastrous monster known as 'the algorithm' has made online interaction less and less personal, I'm finding I'm getting about as much contact with friends on other social networks as I am here. At least DA is better designed for art. Sure, the interface is still frustratingly clunky in places, but in others it's been a lot more streamlined, which I appreciate.

So! It's taken a few hours but I'm pretty much done. Here's a rundown of what's happened.

- New cover art! [is in the works]

- A large chunk of old art has been put into storage while I figure whether to update it or delete it altogether.

- Other art has been reorganised into new folders. A lot of stuff I was posting in scraps is now in its own dedicated 'Sketchbook' folder.

- I'll be gradually working on rerouting or reloading any animation related content

I'll still be posting on the other places (especially since I can't put most animation on here any more without paying up), but I'm going to try and make this one more lively again. Recapture something from the old times, you know? It would be nice if you joined me. <3

Tagged by WHATiFGirl who requested some facts on this demanding squishy fella, Booker.

Bookrcollage by caat

1. Booker (and WYM as a story) was created in 2005, three years before Kyler came into existence. Booker's original human companion wasn't interesting to work with for me and WYM was shelved until I could design one that was.

2. Booker's original voice was going to sound like Bob Hoskins! It was actually JonCausith who suggested the idea of Booker sounding nasally and higher pitched along with his audition for WYM.

3. Booker's name is derived from Kyler's dad calling Kyler a 'nosy bugger' when he was a child, and the latter word sounding different as a result of his dad's accent. This is also why Booker has a large nose.

4. Booker is an imaginary friend, however he is tangible, audible and visible to everyone. Is this more or less awkward than having an intangible one, I wonder...

5. Booker's physiology is undefined by logic and its nearest description is 'toon-like'. He is resistant to impacts but can still feel pain. He sinks in water. He doesn't suffer from muscle tiredness and could hang on to something indefinitely.

6. Booker can remember everything he and Kyler did together while he was a child, as if Booker himself had been alive.

7. Booker is usually very happy and optimistic, but occasionally struggles with insecurity, aware of his lack of existence prior to the events of WYM. He sometimes laments the past, and gets frustrated with the quite literal connection between himself and Kyler.

8. Booker and Kyler's best friend Greg have a difficult relationship through most of the series, mainly from Booker considering Greg a 'friend stealer' and acting obnoxious towards Greg as a result (though at times Greg gives as good as he receives, much to Kyler's horror)

I can't think of that many people who use DA any more that I could tag buuut...

Pretty much all I use this journal for these days. :B

1.) What game got you into gaming?
Hmmm... Pacman? My faves were Stampede and Wizard of Wor, but I figure just playing on the Atari 2600 in general got me interested.
2.) What is your favorite food?
Super hard to say, but Italian food has a special place in my heart...and my stomach.
3.) Your least favorite video game character?
American Kirby? American Kirby was a jerk. :I
4.) What are your thoughts on negativity/hate on the internet?
Like negativity/hate anywhere, it is an unecessary and destructive thing which should be stopped, but it really is in the hands of those delivering that sort of response to stop themselves.
5.) What's your favorite video game theme, at the moment?
Not sure I quite understand what you mean by 'theme' but I'm pretty much open to a variety of styles and ideas if they're fun to play.
6.) How do you feel about Capcom discontinuing Megaman?
Mostly indifferent, but not surprised. Y'know, what with the whole "business over art" dealie.
7.) Your favorite drink?
Water. XD (Though I recently drank some raspberry lemonade that was real good)
8.) Your opinions on original and fan/parody?
Parody stuff is fun, but I have mixed feelings about it. People use it as a fast track to get noticed, and the more parody stuff there is out there, the harder it is for original works to be seen.
9.) Your favorite professional artist/author?
I don't really know...
10.) Your favorite game, at the moment?
Codename S.T.E.A.M - and that's just from playing the demo over and over. The Wonderful 101 has been pretty awesome too.
